On Saturday, March 18th, WrestlePro held one of their biggest shows of the year, WrestleProFest. The show was headlined by many high-octane and fun matches, capped off with the WrestlePro Championship Unification match between two men who have a right to call themselves the WrestlePro Champion, Deonn Rusman and LSG.

Justin Corino vs. “The Prodigy” PJ Hawx

Winner: Justin Corino

The show started with a fun match between a WrestlePro legend in his own right, Justin Corino, and a young stud on the independent wrestling scene who made his WrestlePro debut this night, PJ Hawx. Corino quickly took over this match, using his expertise and strength to get the better of the young upstart. Hawx tries to fight back to no avail. Ultimately, Corino would hit his finisher on Hawx and pick up a decisive victory.

WrestlePro Tag Team Championship Match: Iron Savages (c) vs. Shot Through the Heart

Winners and still WrestlePro Tag Team Champions: Iron Savages

The action continued on in a big way with a big WrestlePro Tag Team Championship match between two of the best teams WrestlePro has to offer. Shot Through the Heart, consisting of Love Doug and TJ Crawford, came into this match ready to go. This marks their first WrestlePro Tag Team Championship match, and they had a tall task ahead of them. The match started with Bronson and Crawford for their respective teams. Bronson tried to use his power to get the best of Crawford, but Crawford was able to use his speed and agility to take the fight to the big man.

Love Doug used some of his funny antics to get in the head of Boulder, and it worked for a little while. Unfortunately, for Shot Through the Heart, their momentum would stop when Bronson was able to send Love Doug colliding with his own partner and gain control of the match. TJ Crawford would finally make the hot tag and come into the match on fire. He showed a great feat of strength going toe-to-toe with Bronson and lifting him up above his head and giving him an airplane spin.

Ultimately, the match saw Bronson pin Love Doug following the Iron Savages finishing move, to retain. After the match, the two teams showed each other respect and “hugged it out.” This was a fantastic showing by Shot Through The Heart and an absolute banger of a match. Iron Savages look to remain unstoppable. Who can stop the Iron Savages WrestlePro Tag Team Championship title reign?

An interesting video was shown about a potential debuting star after the match. It was a weird, dark, and overall eerie type of video. Something sinister seems to be coming to WrestlePro.

“The Dominican Destroyer” Vargas (w/ Pace Robinson) vs. Kevin Matthews

Winner: Vargas (w/ Pace Robinson)

This match was about as good as it got between two big men. It more than lived up to the expectations. Kevin Matthews got the better of Vargas in the early going of this match and was able to take the big man off his feet with a big, high-flying move over the top rope to the floor. However, thanks to a distraction by Pace Robinson, Vargas was able to gain control of the match. Matthews called for his finishing move, but thanks to another Pace Robinson distraction, Vargas was able to hit Matthews with his medallion and pin him to pick up the win.

WrestlePro Women’s Championship match: Lady Frost (c) vs. Harley Cameron vs. Valentina Rossi vs. La Chica Clara Carreras

Winner and still WrestlePro Women’s Champion: Lady Frost

This match showed some of the top women’s wrestling talents on the independent scene. Lady Frost, who has a stranglehold over the WrestlePro Women’s Championship, was never in as much jeopardy as she was tonight. She didn’t even need to get pinned to lose her championship. Rossi and Cameron teamed up for the majority of the match to take the fight to Carreras and Lady Frost. Lady Frost hit her finisher on all three women and pinned them all at the same time to retain the WrestlePro Women’s Championship. This was another great showing by Frost.

Bobby Wayward vs. Heath

Winner: Heath

Bobby Wayward, who is one of the cornerstones of WrestlePro, makes his way out to the ring first and gets ready to take on Heath. Wayward did a good job at controlling the match and taking the fight to Heath. However, Heath would fight back into it and quickly have Wayward right where he wanted him. Wayward would low-blow Heath and hit a kick to the face of Heath to pick up the victory. Bobby Wayward continues to cement himself as a cornerstone of the foundation of WrestlePro, and it’s always great to see Heath.

Filipino Street Fight: Dark STG vs. Fallah Bahh

Winner: Dark STG

Accompanied by Zio Zagan, Dark STG makes his way down to the ring with a trash can. While STG is one of the top young stars of WrestlePro, he is facing off with one of the WrestlePro greats in Fallah Bahh. Bahh makes his way down to the ring with a shopping cart full of weapons and the two men begin fighting in the entranceway. This fight spills over into the WrestlePro faithful and Fallah is in firm control. However, STG takes over and beats up Bahh in the crowd. STG continued to beat down Bahh in the ring.

Later in the match, STG hit Bahh with a spinebuster on the shopping cart for just a two-count. Ultimately, the match ended when Zagan distracted Bahh with fire, leading to STG spearing Bahh through a door that was set up in the corner of the ring. Dark STG continues to impress and terrify, the WrestlePro faithful. If he continues this run, it’s not too farfetched to think he may have some gold around his waist soon.

Shawn Spears vs. Colton Charles

Winner: Shawn Spears

This match featured a talented and established wrestler Shawn Spears, and one of the greatest young studs to come out of WrestlePro, Colton Charles. This match also was Charles’ biggest match to date in a WrestlePro ring. This match was a solid, back-and-forth match, and showcased some of Colton’s talent. Ultimately, Spears dropped Colton on his head and pinned him down to the mat for three. The two shook hands after, as Colton continues to impress the professional wrestling world.

Dan Maff vs. GKM

Winner: Dan Maff

Dan Maff makes his entrance first, followed by a very fired-up GKM. GKM is another one of the very talented, young guns coming up in WrestlePro. While this match may look like a mismatch on paper, GKM took the fight to Dan Maff and even had Maff reeling a couple of times throughout the match thanks to his speed and agility. However, Maff’s strength and power served to be his most valuable asset in this match. Ultimately, Maff makes GKM tap out with a rear-naked choke. As he continues to keep his eyes on the WrestlePro Gold Championship, Maff continues to look more dominant than ever before, and that’s a scary… scary thought.

Another cryptic video was aired throughout the Rahway Rec Center. Something sinister is definitely coming to WrestlePro, and it doesn’t just look like one person.

CPA vs Shane Douglas

Winner: CPA

Shane Douglas gets on the mic and talks about how he never considered himself to be a “sports entertainer,” only a “professional wrestler.” He says tonight he wants to give the crowd a wrestling classic. CPA makes his way out to the ring and the match begins with a handshake. Shane Douglas helps CPA to run the ropes and the two finally kick off with a collar-elbow tie-up. This was a very entertaining match, as CPA never disappoints and it’s always fun to see Shane Douglas back.

Ultimately, the match ended with Douglas thinking he won and CPA rolling him up for the real three-count. Douglas gets on the mic and says he will never return to this town and demands the match be overturned. Douglas makes his way to the back and he is irate. He leaves through the crowd and says he will never be back.

Nick Wayne vs. Joey Janela vs. Gringo Loco

Winner: Joey Janela

This very well could have been the best match of the night. Wayne and Janela work together to work on Loco, but Loco uses his evasive techniques to get out of it. However, the Wayne and Janela partnership doesn’t last long and it is officially every man for themselves. The action was fast-paced and incredibly fun. When the dust settled, Janela would be victorious when he capitalized on a down and out Gringo Loco and hits him with an elbow drop for the three-count. This was a match I recommend everyone watch. It was a ton of fun and about as good as it gets.

WrestlePro Gold Unification match: Deonn Rusman (c) vs LSG (c)

Result: No Contest

The time has come. It is time to unify the top championship in WrestlePro. LSG and Deonn Rusman both have rightful claims that they are the best, but only one can be champion. The match starts off with a feeling-out process between the two men. This was a fantastic main event that featured two of WrestlePro’s finest. Dan Maff made his way down to the ring to watch the match from the entrance ramp, but unfortunately for Rusman and LSG, that wasn’t all he was there to do.

As Rusman landed a spear on LSG and pinned him for what should have been a three-count, Maff took out the referee and screwed Rusman. LSG and Rusman both looked pissed and they both decided to go after Maff. However, just as it looked like Maff was about to get beat up, Victor Benjamin, and Traxx make their presence felt as they take down Rusman and LSG. The Ace of Space Academy makes the save and all hell breaks lose to end the show. Rusman grabs the mic and says he wants a TLC match and then takes out everyone to end the show.

This was another incredibly solid show by WrestlePro. They continue to show why they are one of the best independent wrestling companies around today and continue to show why they have one of the most talented rosters. Whether you’re into high-flying, hard-hitting, hardcore, or comedy, WrestlePro has something everyone can enjoy. Truly another fantastic show.

The next time you can see WrestlePro live is on Saturday, April 29th, when WrestlePro presents… ANARCHY. Three matches have already been announced for this show, and they are:

TLC match for the WrestlePro Gold Championship: Deonn Rusman vs. Dan Maff vs. LSG

Casket match for the WrestlePro Silver Championship: Dark STG vs. Fallah Bahh

WrestlePro Women’s Championship: Lady Frost (c) vs Dasha

By Scott Mitchell

Hello, my name is Scott Mitchell and I have been a professional wrestling fan since 2005. Like everyone the first promotion I really fell in love with is the WWE. However, as I got older, I got largely into the greatness known as independent wrestling. Independent wrestling has turned into one of my biggest passions. Please enjoy!
