HOG’s “Plato O Plomo” took place on Friday June 16th from the NYC Arena in Queens, NY. Here’s the match breakdowns and recap of the night:

Mike Bailey vs Nolo Kitano:

The show opened up with Mike Bailey who got the crowd into the event right away. The crowd had a ton of energy and were chanting “Speedball” before the match even began.

The two competitors started the match with technical wrestling moves on each other, however no one could get an advantage.

This match was actioned packed and had a bunch of high spots. Mike Bailey is exciting to watch and Nolo Kitano held his own as well. Bailey had this match won. He hit his Lightening kick and ultimo weapon. The ref’s hand was about to come down for the third time when one of The Anunnakis put Nolo’s foot on the bottom rope to break up the count. The ref saw this and told The Anunnakis to leave ringside. The group wouldn’t leave and because of yet another distraction, Nolo wound up winning using a Double Underhook spun into an Overdrive Facebuster for the three count.

Cashflow Inc (Encore & Ken Broadway) vs The Black Hand (Blackmon & Michael Fain) vs Project Mayhem (Eden & Osedo):

If you like matches where there’s chaos, then this is a match for you. For me it was a bit too much. There was a period during the match when Spanish music started playing and all three teams started dancing. There was very little tagging in this match. It was mainly just a free for all, with it being very hard to even determine who the legal man was. The announce team did a good job trying to keep up with everything that was going on. The ending came with a double euronogi by Cashflow Inc to Osito to pick up the victory.

HOG Women’s Championship – Ultra Violette (c) vs Kamar:

Ultra Violette came down with the Tag Team Champions, The Bookers (Amazing Red & BXL). Violette grabs the mic and before she even starts speaking the crowd chants “shut the fu*k up!” Violette said she is issuing an opening challenge and as a booker, she knew the perfect opponent to chose. She introduced Kamar, a student of HOG.

This was a good match and a great effort from Kamar. I have much respect and give credit to Ultra Violette for working with and making the young Kamar look great. In the end Ultra Violette was too much and submitted Kamar.

Violette then took the mic again as the crowd chanted again “shut the fu*k up”. She calls out Sam Laterna who was at the broadcast table with the announce team for an interview. Laterna comes to the ring and asks Ultra Violette about turning on her friends, The Mane Event. After Violette gets into Laterna’s face, Kiki Van Gogh comes out. She tells Violette that she’s coming for the HOG Women’s Championship.

The Bookers then come out and attempt to abuse their power by giving two HOG students a chance at the HOG Tag Team Championships.

Commissioner Solomon came out and said he’s picking the Bookers opponents and it’s not the two that came down, but these two….out comes The Mane Event. Midas Black and Jay Lyon both charge to the ring and start beating up on The Bookers. The rest of the tag teams in the locker room come out to break up the fight.

Commissioner Solomon came back to the ring with the mic saying this has got to stop. He made a match for HOG’s next event, High Intensity, on August 18th. It will be a HOG Tag Team Championship Steel Cage Match between The Bookers (c) and The Mane Event.

Alex Shelley vs The Mighty Mantequilla:

The Might Mante comes down to the ring followed by Alex Shelley. Shelley comes down with his Impact World Championship as the crowd chants “you deserve it!” A handshake and show of respect between the two men starts off the match.

Shelley controlled much of the match with a methodical beating on Mighty Mante. Every time Mante would try to mount a comeback, Shelley would stop him right in his tracks.

Mante finally got the opening he was looking for. He hit multiple moves for multiple near falls. Unfortunately the ending came for Mante when Nolo Kitano came down and spit a mysterious mist in his face. The ref didnt see it. Shelley got Mante in the varsity stretch for the third time in the match to pick up the submission.

HOG 6 Man Scramble Cruiserweight Championship Match: Joey Silver (c) vs Daron Richardson vs El Trabajador vs J Boujii vs Raheem Royal vs Ben Ruten:

There was a ton of high flying action as there typically is in these Cruiserweight matches. “Sweet Cheeks” Joey Silver’s goofy gimmick is pretty funny. Each wrestler had moments and chances in this match. In the end it was Joey Silver who was victorious and successfully defended his title.

HOG Crown Jewel Championship Match: Charles Mason (c) vs El Hijo del Vikingo:

Vikingo came out to a hero’s welcome, while the heel Mason came out to boos and garbage being thrown at him. None of this seemed to bother Mason, as he seems to enjoy being hated and evil.

The beginning of the match started with both men feeling each other out. There were a bunch of moves and reversals in the early going. I was in awe watching Vikingo. He can fly and has a ton of arial moves in his arsenal. He definitely lives up to the hype that surrounds him. And I continue to be impressed with and love Charles Mason’s work.

Mason could have won this match by pinfall, however instead Mason stopped the count at two. He then instructed the HOG students at ringside to take apart the top rope and turnbuckle. He used the turnbuckle to choke Vikingo and then took a chair shot to Vikingo’s head, which caused the ref to call for the bell. Vikingo was the winner via disqualification, so Mason retains his title. He’s about to do more damage to Vikingo when Commissioner Solomon came back down to tell Mason he’s had enough of him cheating his way to win matches.

At HOG’s next event, it was announced that Mason will defend his Crown Jewel Championship in a No Holds Barred match against Eddie Kingston!

HOG World Championship Match: Matt Cardona (c) vs Carlito:

As with Vikingo in the previous match, the crowd was excited to see Carlito. Just like the previous match, the fans showed their distain for HOG World Champion Matt Cardona by throwing trash at him.

The match started off much like Cardona’s match with Fatu did last month. He would leave the ring and go to the outside trying to avoid Carlito at every avenue. Cardona takes the mic and plays up on the crowd. Cardona is a great heel that generates good heat with the fans. Cardona told the ref to count him out, he’s done. As he’s walking up the ramp, the crowd continues to throw garbage at him. Carlito follows him and takes the fight to him.

Momentum changes when Steph De Lander distracts Carlito and Cardona hits him with a drop kick through the ropes. Any time Carlito would gain any momentum, Steph De Lander would get involved. In typical heel fashion, Cardona kept distracting the ref as De Lander would repeatedly choke Carlito behind the ref’s back.

The end came when Carlito went to clothesline Cardona, however missed and clotheslined the ref instead. As the ref was out, DeLander came in and worked with Cardona on Carlito. Cardona took Carlito’s apple at ringside as DeLander held Carlito. As Cardona was about to spit Carlito’s apple in his face, Carlito moved out of the way and Cardona instead spit the apple into DeLander’s face.

Carlito did a backstabber to Cardona while the ref was out. A new ref ran into the ring to count the three. As Carlito was given the belt and celebrating, the original official came to and advised he is disqualifying Carlito for the clothesline he received by him.

Fans were clearly upset about the finish, however it gave more heat with Cardona and it’s interesting to see who his next opponent will be.

Conclusion: This was an excellent card. Matches were action packed and some big matches were already announced for “High Intensity” on August 18, coming from the NYC Arena in Queens, NY.
