This event took place on the weekend of AEW’s “Forbiden Door” PPV. The show featured some of the best female women that Canada and the US has to offer and is currently available on VOD on IWTV.

Our commentary team for this show is Scott Hunter, Adam B and Veda Scott. The bar that was used for the venue looks really cool, with the wrestler’s graphics on a big screen near the entrance. They also did a great job with the graphics on the production.

We open with a match for the Smash Wrestling Championship, where Nikita looks to defend her championship against Liiza Hall. The champion, Nikita, comes to the ring taking selfies with a cropped fur coat and fur sunglasses. Nikita appears very confident, but must not take Liiza lightly as she is a rising star and takes Nikita down early. Once Nikita gets the advantage, she goes to take another selfie, but Liiza knocks the phone out of Nikita’s hand, which infuriates Nikita and she begins to take the match a little more seriously.

The challenger, Liiza Hall, is showing off her technical wrestling prowess with multiple submission attempts, but Nikita seems to have an answer for all of her moves. After a series of standing switches, Nikita locks Liiza’s arms in a butterfly position and wins the match with a Pedigree, retaining her title.

In a tag team match, KC Spinelli teams up with Mary Lee Rose to take on MILEY! and Kristara. Spinelli and Rose are the veterans in this match and also have the size and power advantage. Kristara, a student of Speedball Mike Bailey, uses her quickness to get the advantage on Mary Lee Rose. She then goes for a dive, but KC kicks her in the head as she attempts to go through the ropes.

The veterans take over and keep Kristara from her partner, making frequent tags. Kristara is finally able to break free and make the tag to Miley and Miley comes into the match full of energy. All 4 women fight in the ring until it is just Miley and Mary Lee Rose. Miley gets the pin on Rose.

After the match, Mercedes Martinez attacks both Miley and Kristara. Mercedes was supposed to fight Masha Slamovich, but Masha could not make it due to travel issues. It is now Mercedes versus Vert Vixen. Mercedes insults Vert, bringing Vert to the ring. Mercedes threatens to break Miley’s arm if Vert does not put her DEFY Championship on the line. Vert accepts, but Mercedes snaps Miley’s arm anyway.

Next, we have one of the best that the US has to offer in Trish Adora against a Canadian legend, Vanessa Kraven. This is the first time that these two women have been in the ring with each other. Kraven uses her power advantage early and is able to power through all of Trish’s submission attempts. However, Trish is not intimidated and takes the fight right back to Kraven. Kraven hits a running body avalanche and gets the match back in her advantage. Trish fires back with a suplex, but gets caught with a Black Hole Slam from Kraven. Kraven goes for a two handed choke slam, but Adora counters it and rolls up Kraven for the win.

The Canadian wrestling icon Nicole Mathews challenges Alexia Nicole for the Femmes Fatales Championship. Alexia has had this championship for multiple years, but Nicole may be her biggest challenge to date. Alexia and Nicole trade holds on the mat early. While Matthews has the size advantage, Alexia stands toe to toe with her and takes her down with a series of head scissors. Nicole bullies Alexia into the corner and starts working on her shoulder.

Nicole slows the match down and works on Alexia’s knee. Alexia powers through and gives Nicole a backcracker with one good leg. She tries to quickly put Nicole away with a wheelbarrow stunner, but Nicole kicks out. Alexia tries to pick Nicole up, but her knee gives out and Nicole counters with a brainbuster. Nicole then gives Alexia a Fisherman’s Buster into a single legged crab, but Alexia is able to get to the ropes. The story here is Alexia’s knee, and Nicole keeps going after it. Alexia goes for a piledriver, but cannot get Nicole up, so Nicole answers with the Vancouver Maneuver for the win to become the NEW Femmes Fatales Champion.

The young wrestler from Buffalo, Hayley Dylan, does not make any friends on her way to the ring as she takes on the Toronto native Taylor Rising. Hayley is a late replacement for this match, but is very familiar with Taylor, and looks to make the most of this opportunity. Hayley is very aggressive and is able to methodically take down Taylor to the crowd’s dismay. Hayley gets caught on the top rope, and Taylor brings her down to the mat with a suplex.

The match speeds up and Taylor hits a nasty looking suplex. Hayley gets the advantage back with a Heat Seaker, off of the ropes. Taylor comes back with a bicycle kick followed by a Pedigree for the win. Impressive showing for Hayley, but Taylor was just too powerful and experienced on this day.

One of the best American Women’s Wrestlers of all time, Mercedes Martinez, challenges Vert Vixen for her DEFY championship. On her way to the ring, Mercedes is met with a big surprise as Vert dives off a guard rail onto Mercedes. Vert stays on top of Mercedes and looks to put her away quickly, but Mercedes answers with a trio of suplexes. Mercedes slows down the match and picks apart Vert like the veteran that she is.

Vert comes back with a rebound kick off the ropes to Mercedes’ head. Vert then hits Mercedes with a missile dropkick. Both women trade blows, with neither one giving an inch. Mercedes gives Vert a spider suplex from the corner, but is not able to put Vert away. Vert goes for a spear, but Mercedes pulls the ref in the way and the ref takes the spear. Mercedes hits a fisherman’s suplex, but there is no ref to make the count. Mercedes then gets a chair. Miley comes out and takes the chair from Mercedes and Vert takes Mercedes down. The referee gets back up while Vert has the chair, but Miley takes it from Vert and starts hitting Mercedes with it, causing Vert to get disqualified. Mercedes gets the disqualification win, however, Vert retains the DEFY Championship.

Our main event is a no DQ match between Allie Katch and Jody Threat. Jody and Allie are very respectful with each other early on, until they both go under the ring for a door. They fight over the door, and Allie takes it in the gut, giving Jody the advantage.

Jody brings a couple chairs in the ring and runs Allie face first into the seat of one of the chairs. Jody misses with a couple swings of a baseball bat, and Allie ends up using it to choke Jody. Jody hits Allie with an exploder suplex through a chair, and then tries to run Allie into the corner of the ring, but Allie moves and Jody hits a chair that was set up in the corner, head first.

Allie may have spent a little too much time setting up a door on chairs, because she is the one that ends up laying on it and Jody hits a splash, sending Allie through the door. Allie begs Jody to hit her with a piece of the door, and Jody obliges. This fires Allie up as she hits Jody with a Pele kick. Allie follows this up with a superplex, followed by a DVD through a door. Allie sets up a stack of chairs in the middle of the ring, and goes for a piledriver, but Jody escapes and hits a F5 on the stack of chairs for the win.

This was an excellent show that showcased some of the veteran stars, current indie stars and the future of women’s wrestling in Canada and the US. There was plenty of different styles of matches, so there was a little bit of something for everyone. I would give the match of the show to Nicole Matthews and Alexia Nicole, as they told a great story and really showed that they are two of the best women’s wrestlers that Canada has to offer.

I have watched wrestling all of my life, from WWF and NWA to ECW and then indie shows. I have been steadily going to independent wrestling shows since 2002.
