Highlights:

Before discussing the action in question, props should be given to the voice of WR commentry: Veda Scott. With a revolving door of guest co-hosts (Mike Bailey, Matthew Palmer and Rich Swan), Veda’ perfect articulation, astute observations, humour, charm and enthusiasm continue to be a breath of innovative fresh air for the promotion and indy wrestling in general.

Lance Archer vs Matthew Palmer

I don’t recall ever seeing security at any wrestlig event so widely used and abused.

Straight out the gate, the towering and beastly Archer proceeded to belt each guard surrounding the ring with a stinging forearm strike (the first of a few spontaneous target practice sessions on the clueless enforcement team last night).

He didn’t show any more mercy for his former student and WR staple: Matthew Palmer. The odd, gimmicky and amusing opponent looked from the get go, to have bitten off much more than he could ever dream of chewing. In the ring and out, this went on like a classic squash match with Archer showing monstrous strength and attack on the helpless wizard wannbe.

Hats off to the excellent entertainment value offered up by both parties for this bout. However, an extra asterix goes next to Palmer’ name for making an ass-whooping look so funny. All in all, the duo’ connection between themselves and the Texas crowd was tangible and a treat.

Not to be forotten is the solid moment where Archer put Palmer over after the latter was able to down one of his magic potions and “garner” the power to forecfully respond to the dominace of the former. The result was well executed and exciting traditional wrestling that added meat to Palmer’ cheesiness.

Short, sweet and fun; a great contribution to the opening card.

Texas Street Fight
Allie Katch vs Sami Callihan

There are certain things you sometimes watch that you can’t unsee. Being one who is not easily phased by violence, gore or oddness, admittedly, this bout goes down as being a memorable bag of WTF moments.

It takes the Death Machine Sami Callihan to bring the savage brute out of you and after last night, Allie Katch can contest that her inner demon bitch showed itself in all its glory right in her home state of Texas.

This was nuts from start to finish; a wild unbridled affair that swept every knook and crany of the Epic through remoreless and blunt force brawling and weapons galore: chairs, doors, staple guns and a prosthetic limb; yes, you read right.

In the midst of a violent frenzy, Katch approached an unassuming female spectator in the crowd and removed her prosthetic leg and used it as a weapon to beat the shit out of Callihan; whom for the most part, proceeeded to absolutely destroy the Texas native for a majority of the match after weeks of built up tension between both fighters and JT Dunn.

To add to the inanity of the situation, it was later revealed by Scott that the woman who went limbless for a short time was Katch’ mother. Talk about this getting Texas Chainsaw Masscare like.

And if you thought Sami wasn’t a masochistic bastard by this point, he then took out the staple guns. Despite stapling Katch’ breast and forehead and looking like he was about the apply the last nail to her coffin, Callihan got to see why he should of thought twice about doubting Katch’ bloodlust.

With the help of JT Dunn, Sami took some a staple to the nuts, was planted through a door and finally pinned via a vicious powerdriver through the second rope by the heroine of the evening.

The Death Machine proved once again why he is the Death Machine and Katch showed a side of her that aroused lovers of female dominance and violence.

No Ropes Fight Pit Match
Mike Bailey vs JD Griffey

Like well executed death matches and wrestlers, Bailey and Griffey showed what is possible when you know your craft exceedingly well and don’t need ropes to support and propel you and the match into action.

A minestrone of shoot, Muay Thai, kickboxing, martials arts and wrestling, this was a real as fuck fight between 2 grown ass men.

The strikes, kicks and grappling could not have looked, sounded and felt more palpable and palatable. This was a blaring example of 2 emerging indy stars showing us the foundations of a great wrestling match: in ring psychology, selling moves, athleticism and yanking on the heartstrings of its audience.

And it was pulled off in a non-tradtional wrestling context showing those watching at the Epic and the Fite+ world the level of versatilty, talent and creativity we are being offered by independant promotions; especially with Wrestling Revolver.

Very, very impressive.

Closing Remarks:

WR continues to be the talk of the indy community and is beginning to be placed closer to the top of the best of the best in the ever oppulent indy wrestling world. Their visit to Texas has only inched them further to the peak of the mountain.
