Now that MLW’s Never Say Never has come and gone, we take a look back and recap what was a historic night for MLW.

Jacob Fatu retains title & shows respect to Calvin Tankman:

This match opened the show and was a great way to start off the night. Jacob Fatu always delivers in his matches, while Calvin Tankman continues to impress me doing moves someone his size shouldn’t be doing! This match went back and forth with the crowd behind Fatu.

The action was fast paced as was the ending. Tankman hit Fatu with a spinning back elbow, but then Fatu comes back to hit a twisting body block from the second rope to get the pinfall.

After the match Fatu grabbed the mic as Tankman was leaving. He told him to come back in the ring. Once Tankman was back in the ring, Fatu acknowledged how tough he as the give each other a hug in the ring.

Delmi Exo retains her title while becoming new wXw Women’s Champion:

With a title vs title match, we knew someone was going to win a championship, while retaining their own. This match was the first of three title changes.

Ava Everett controlled quite a bit of the match while working the crowd. In the closing moments of this match, Delmi came back when Everett went for her superkick, however, Delmi blocked it. She then hit a leg drop suplex and Delmi Driver for the 3 count.

Joe Dombrowski announces upcoming live MLW events for the rest of this year on Fite +:

  1. MLW Fury Road on Sunday, September 3rd
  2. MLW Slaughterhouse Saturday, October 14th
  3. MLW Fightland on Saturday, November 18th
  4. MLW One Shot on Thursday, December 7th

Timothy Thatcher appeared to legitimately get hurt against Tracy Williams:

During the course of this match Thatcher kept holding his neck, which at the time looked to be him just selling. Then Williams does a flying DDT from the top turnbuckle. The ref counts two, however, Thatcher didn’t appear to get a shoulder up or have his foot under the rope. The ref looks down at Thatcher, holds up the X sign, and calls the match.

The doctor is called into the ring, however, Thatcher is able to leave on his own to the crowd standing and applauding. Later on in the night during another match, Joe Dombrowski gives an update stating Thatcher suffered a concussion but is alert.

Mance Warner gets his revenge on Sam Adonis:

As in most Mance Warner matches, there was blood. This was caused by Adonis taking a screwdriver to Mancer’s head. Adonis tried getting his Azteca Henchmen involved, however, Matthew Justice and 1 Called Manners from SGC came down, along with Microman.

SGC ran off the Henchmen, while Microman assisted in helping Mancer pick up the win. SGC and Microman then celebrate in the ring drinking their light beers.

2023 Draft Pick Names:

Kevin Blackwood is announced as the first participant in the first round of the draft. The crowd cheers and chants “Kevin Blackwood!”

Mister Saint Laurent also announced a 2023 draft pick, as the hottest free agent out there to join his new World Titan Federation group. That wrestler is none other than Matt Cardona and it’s announced he will appear at MLW’s next live event on September 3rd.

The Calling become new MLW Tag Team Champions in second title change of night:

The next title change of the night happened when The Calling (Akira & Rickey Shane Page) defeated The Samoan Swat Team (Lance Anoai & Juicy Finau). This match had tons of weapons as expected considering this was a fans bring the weapons match. Weapons included garbage cans, gaming system wrapped in barbed wire, a plunger, a cactus wrapped in barbed wire, tables, and chairs.

Delirious also got involved to help The Calling, while Jacob Fatu came to the aid of his Samoan Swat Team brothers. Akira hit jumping knees onto Juicy, who was on the ring apron, sending him into the table below. After Juicy was neutralized, RSP hit Lance with a Raven Effect DDT from the top rope onto a table for the three count and win to become new Tag Team Champions.

Bomaye financial backer is revealed:

Don King makes the surprising announcement that he is the Bomaye Fight Club financial backer.

B3CCA’s live performance was short lived:

B3CCA did perform a song on the top of the ramp. However as soon as the song was over, a supposedly crazed fan with wings came up the ramp to dance with her and her dancers. He was taken out by security as the cameras followed. B3CCA was gone from the ramp by the time the camera came back around.

The main event delivered and gave us third title change of the night:

In unfamiliar territory and a position he hasn’t been in for years, the crowd booed Alex Hammerstone. Alex Kane was the clear Babyface. Hammerstone did a good job working the crowd and playing up on them in heel fashion.

This match went back and forth. Both men showed their strength and wrestling ability. We got to see Kane perform a suplex party on Hammerstone. While a clean Kane win was not necessarily shocking being how he had been booked, him tapping out Hammerstone was!

The event ended with the Bomaye Fight Club celebrating in the ring. Kane told the crowd he loved them, and “this championship and Bomaye is for the people!”
