From the likes of Chaotic Wrestling, Honor Among Wrestling, Chicago Style Wrestling, and Future Stars of Wrestling, here are five must-see matches from this past weekend that every fan of professional wrestling should go back and check out. These matches include two of the top up-and-comers in the northeast, a legendary women’s wrestler face off with a young gun, a TNA star make her return home for a showcase with one of the most fun characters on the scene today, a former WWE star continue to sink her teeth into the independent wrestling scene as she faces off with one of the best women’s wrestlers on the scene today, bar none, and an absolutely epic finale of a tag team gauntlet to crown new tag team champions. 5. Tony Navarro vs. Mike Skyros from Chaotic Wrestling’s “Locked & Loaded”
Kicking off this list, we saw a very exciting bout between Tony Navarro and Mike Skyros at Chaotic Wrestling’s big event, “Locked & Loaded.” This show was absolutely stacked. We saw the likes of Brad Hollister battle Milo Mirra for the Chaotic Wrestling New England Championship in a schoolyard brawl, Danny Miles make his return after his best friend, JT Dunn, turned on him, Tyree Taylor put his Chaotic Wrestling Heavyweight Championship on the line against a fun young star of the New England Pro Wrestling Academy, Jacob Axton, as well as Jose Zamora compete in singles action, and Shannon LeVangie put her Chaotic Wrestling Pan-Optic Championship on the line against Trigga The OG. As you can see, there was a ton of excellent action. However, what really made this match standout to me was the hunger you can feel from both Navarro and Skyros. Both Navarro and Skyros are fairly new to the scene as they are still making a name for themselves here in the northeast. Navarro is a fan favorite in Chaotic Wrestling. Fans took to his Italian-style gimmick very quickly. He’s loud, obnoxious, and sometimes annoying, in the absolute greatest way possible. Navarro is a very fun character and someone who is just so beloved. He has an incredibly bright future in professional wrestling, as he continues to seek to win the hearts of fans from all over. I’ll be honest, in the beginning, I didn’t know how to feel about the guy, but he has grown on me a lot. As for Skyros, he’s another very fun, young, up-and-comer. He’s a bit more of a serious, scary-type of character, but one who’s a hell of a lot of fun to watch. Skyros has me hooked with his character work, and in the ring he can absolutely go. He has a world of potential. Both Navarro and Skyros worked together very well. They are both names to keep an eye on as I’m sure they’ll both continue to raise their stock every time they step in the ring. Jump on board now. They will be stars one day. 4. Serena Deeb vs. Davina Thorne from HAW’s “Rise From The Ashes IV”
Next on the list, we saw Serena Deeb make her return to the professional wrestling ring in a World Class Women’s Showcase match against a very fun, young, up-and-comer with a wealth of potential, Davina Thorne, at Honor Among Wrestler’s “Rise From The Ashes IV.” This show was yet another stacked one. we saw the likes of Leyla Hirsch battle The Hale Sisters in a featured handicap match, a three-way HAW Tag Team Championship match between Juice N Surf, Aura, and The Highlight Reel, and so much more. The showcase match between Deeb and Thorne was a heck of a good time and so much fun. The “Professor of Professional Wrestling,” Deeb made her return to the ring to look to teach a new youngster a lesson. She is a technical master and arguably one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world. To put Davina Thorne in the ring with her is such a major moment for Thorne. We all know how amazing and how incredible Deeb is. We have seen her masterclass first handedly on television. Whether she was in the Straight Edge Society with CM Punk, or absolutely putting on technical masterclasses in All Elite Wrestling or Ring Of Honor, Deeb has shown exactly how valuable she is to any roster. Seeing Thorne in the ring with her was super cool. Thorne is someone who’s still young, but has a very bright future. She plays the stereotypical mean girl, a “diva” if you will. But she does so with perfection. Davina Thorne is someone who I will truly sing her praises until the end of time. Despite her age or experience factor, or lack thereof, she is being put in such great matches that she will only benefit from. She has worked very well with many wrestlers, and this continued to be the case with Deeb. Even in defeat, Thorne had a great casket match recently with Ravenna Vein at Jamesen Shook’s big event, “Night Zero.” Since then, her stock has only grown. Now, she stepped in the ring with Deeb. She is truly doing big things and it’s been so awesome to see. Not only does she have the talent in the ring, but she has the charisma to back it all up. It’s something you don’t see often, but Thorne just looks like she belongs, regardless of who you put her up against. That’s a testament to just how good she is. 3. Maggie Lee vs. Blair Onyx from CSW’s “Cruel Summer”
Next on the list, we saw Maggie Lee make her return to Chicago Style Wrestling to face off with professional wrestling’s favorite, and scariest, “Arachnid,” Blair Onyx. This show was incredible, easily the best show of the weekend. We saw the likes of Solomon Tupu put his CSW Championship on the line against Myron Reed, Shazza McKenzie put her CSW Women’s Championship on the line against a debuting Pinky Montoya, a three-way Metra Division Championship match, Bruss Hamilton battle 12 Gaige in an impromptu bout, Warhorse go one-on-one with Victor Analog, and so much more. This would have been the match of the night any other night. However, there was one more match that cannot be forgotten about, but we will get to that later. Maggie Lee and Blair Onyx put on an absolute clinic. It may have been bell-to-bell one of the best wrestling matches of the weekend. Lee has been making a name for herself inside of a TNA ring, and it’s beyond well-deserved. Despite the character-shift into being an “Elegance” girl, she, alongside Heather Reckless, have been killing it. However, don’t let TNA fool you, she’s still the same woman who held Dreamwave Wrestling hostage as the Dreamwave Women’s Champion. She’s still that damn good. She’s one of the best around today and is a future Knockouts Champion, and that’s not something up for debate. Trained by Seth Rollins, Lee took to wrestling like a natural. That shows every time she steps into the ring. She’s extremely talented, and is going to accomplish huge things in this world. As for her opponent in this one, Blair Onyx has one of the coolest, and creepiest characters in professional wrestling. She’s known as “The Arachnid” of professional wrestling. Onyx is a fun, spider-like, scary-type of character. But don’t let her character work fool you. She can absolutely go. In the ring, she’s one of the most underrated women on the scene around today. She should genuinely be booked all over, and it’s criminal that she isn’t. She is a hell of a lot of fun to watch, and has one of the coolest characters to go along with it. Both Lee and Onyx complimented each other very well and had undeniable chemistry. This match was freaking awesome. Go back and check this one out on IWTV.
2. Zoey Serrano vs. Brittnie Brooks from FSW’s “Survival Of The Fittest”
Coming in at number two, we saw Zoey Serrano continue to sink her teeth on the independent wrestling scene as she battled Brittnie Brooks on Future Stars of Wrestling’s big event, “Survival Of The Fittest.” This show was fantastic. We saw a ton of great matches, including Jaden Cole putting his FSW No Limits Championship on the line against three other competitors in a Gauntlet match, Zamaya put her FSW Women’s Championship on the line against Veronica West, AJ Aven meet Fox Valentine in a Last Man Standing match, a four-on-four Survival match, a 20-minute Scramble for BYP’s FSW Heavyweight Championship, and so much more. However, the match between Serrano and Brooks was simply put, special. Many fans assumed what Zoey Serrano could do was on display every Monday night on RAW. However, she is on a mission to show that that wasn’t even half of it. In her first match back against Alexia Nicole at C4 Wrestling, she had an absolute banger. She did the same thing against one of the top women on the entire independent wrestling scene today, Brittnie Brooks. She looked incredible and continues to show she’s so much better than we saw on television. As for her opponent, there’s a reason that Brittnie Brooks is the top women on the independent scene today. She’s someone who is going to be an absolute star. Whether you love her, or hate her, she can get a reaction like very few can. She has the charisma, look, entrance, and in-ring ability to stand out and be a major player on any roster. Brooks has the IT factor. This is something that is so rare in wrestling today, and something that sets someone apart from others. She has the potential to do some great things in this world, and it’s only still just getting started for her. So, stay tuned and jump on the bandwagon now. She’s going to be an absolute star. 1. Machine 17 vs. Grayson & Valor from CSW’s “Cruel Summer”
Coming in at number one on this list, we saw Machine 17’s KJ Carter & Nathan Nile battle Grayson & Valor’s Eddie Grayson & Jack Valor in the final match of a six-team gauntlet match to crown the new CSW Tag Team Champions. The titles were made vacant earlier in the night by 12 Gaige, when he announced that Hunter Holdcraft is suffering from a “broken glute.” So, CSW and the General Manager of the show, Hans Carden, quickly came up with a solution. We saw a six-team gauntlet match to crown brand new champions. The match started with the Juice Daddies, Joey Pierson & Daddy Andy, battling Victor Iniestra & Eric Schultz. The Juice Daddies went on a bit of a run, eliminating Iniestra & Schultz and Shain Boucher & Hans Carden. The Juice Daddies ran into a wall known as The Made Men, and the Made Men’s Steve Boz & Marshe Rockett sent the Juice Daddies packing. The fifth team to enter the fray was Machine 17. KJ Carter and Nathan Nile were the fresher team but were quickly outsized. However, Machine 17 dug down deep and eliminated The Made Men. The final team left to enter was NWA’s Grayson & Valor. Eddie Grayson & Jack Valor know Machine 17 very well, as the two teams faced off in an absolute banger of a match at the last show. Fast forward to this show, and the two faced off with much higher stakes. This was an incredibly exciting match between two of my newfound favorite tag teams. This was a battle of speed, agility, and grit. Machine 17, once again, meshed incredible well with Grayson & Valor continuing to show that the midwest tag team scene goes through them. This was an absolutely amazing tag match finals to crown the new CSW Tag Team Championships. Whoever won that match, we knew those titles would be in amazing hands.
