We’re back with another edition of Hit or Miss. This week Chris GST and Matt Waters join me to cover a variety of wrestling topics. We cover everything from ROH, to Chikara, to even a little bit of WWE. So read on my friend to see if this weeks edition of Hit or Miss is a hit or a miss!

Hit or Miss: Kaval will enjoy the same level of success of Daniel Bryan.
Matt Waters: A very hesitant Miss. It’s still very early to judge what level of success Daniel Bryan has achieved. Could Kaval win the US/IC title? Absolutely. Will Kaval main event a PPV in a multi-man tag match? Probably not. But if The Miz hadn’t been Bryan’s pro, and if the Nexus hadn’t been the opponents… would Bryan have gotten that rub? I don’t think so. What made for initially good television due to their conflict is likely going to hurt Kaval in the long run, and that’s having LayCool as his pros. No story has been carried over, so in many ways he’s been tossed into the lion’s den. I see Kaval as repeating Evan Bourne’s career path, with stop and start pushes, but at least consistently wrestling and earning money.
Chris GST: Miss. Kaval while being supported by Rey Mysterio and Batista for a guy that should be brought in, I just don’t see WWE creative being as high on him since the reception to him has also been semi luke warm.  The fans are into him, but at the same time where does he go from here?  At least with Danielson the set story was always against Miz and this gave them a great contrast in character to lead off on.  Kaval doesn’t have a ready made feud and thus I could see him getting lost in the shuffle.  I do hope I’m proved wrong.

Will the ROH Trial Series be a Hit or Miss?
MW: Miss. I have nothing against Andy Ridge. But seeing him wrestle 5 times isn’t going to change my opinion of him. Unless ROH are hiding some other students we don’t know about them this is going to be a miss. Why does it even need to be a “thing” anyway? Couldn’t they just slot some of the youngsters onto the main cards instead of pre-shows? If they fall flat it’ll seem all the worse for them after hyping it this way.
CG: Hit. Even if the fans don’t get into it that much, it’s been a decent way to convey new stars in Japan. And I see with Delirious’ direction, him putting the students at somewhat of an advantage.  Also how could it really go wrong unless the students just don’t get a crowd following at which point they would have failed anyway but the concept is still useful.

Hit or Miss: The KOW will not lose the ROH Tag Titles before the 9th Anniversary Show.
MW: Tough one. Hit. At present I don’t think anyone is ready to take those belts away, unless of course ROH bites the bullet and pays the World’s Greatest Tag Team to appear regularly. The Kings and the Wolves could tear the house down at Final Battle, but Davey seems destined to get a title match, and Edwards is getting his solo push also. The Kings are just on another level, although I’d like to see them win with something other than a loaded elbow strike more often.
CG: Hit. I’ll go with Hit seeing as how they are tied up via contracts and really why have them lose it any time before that unless ROH wants to give a singles push to either men of the KoW.  At this point there are enough singles competitors for the World Title in Homicide, Daniels, Richards, and Strong so that the tag team division should be able to keep some stability around.

Hit or Miss: El Generico vs. Ricochet will steal the show at Curse of Guerilla Island on October 9.
MW: Hit. Ricochet is going to become the new PAC. Companies will take the minor in-ring ability hit for the cheaper plane tickets, because they’re still getting that “Wow” factor. Generico vs a high-flyer steals virtually every show.
CG: Miss. I’m not saying this isn’t going to be a great match, I’m saying that there should be another match on there that should steal the show and this is not meant as a hit against Ricochet but I’ve seen him botch moves enough to make me say that he’s not going to steal the show.

Hit or Miss: The BDK will dissolve within the next 12 months.
MW: Hit. I’d love to see the BDK continue… but where do they go with it beyond this season? Like seriously… is it impossible to imagine them dissolving at the end of this season? They dominated for months, won the belts, won King of Trios, and have knocked back virtually every team going. What else is there? Chikara are rallying together to finally put up a united stand against the BDK, and all signs point to them ultimately winning, likely with Quackensaw taking the belts on the season finale, and then UltraMantis’ new Order of the Neo-Solar Temple attacking someone.
CG: Hit. There is tons left to do with the BDK but they should not be around for the entire next season.
3 for 5
Hit or Miss: Homicide vs. Necro Butcher under Butcher’s Rules will be Necro’s best match in recent memory.
MW: Hit, though let’s not get our hopes up. Necro hasn’t had what I would call a good match in a very, very long time. I would also imagine he won’t have much to do with this match, and I’d actually be shocked if he had any input. I’m picturing a Homicide fending off Chris Hero of CZW-esque brawl with ‘Cide pummeling Necro to make the statement “I’m back”. Let’s not forget this match is taking place on HDNet, so it won’t be TOO brutal.
CG: Hit. Homicide’s abilities plus the fact that they put on some of the more entertaining stuff in the ROH vs CZW war that yes I could see Butcher being put on another level with Homicide.
4 for 6

Matt and Christ went 4 for 6 this week putting them at roughly 66%. Join me next week to see who my guests are and what topics we cover! Until then, be good everyone!
