Welcome to the second ever “The Dojo” I am Charles aka RoninTK and I am the forerunner of Puroresu Spirit. I aim to bring to you guys the biggest rundown of news, results, and information from the land of the rising sun. Pretty much you can call me the man who aims to keep you in the loop in all things Pro-Wres.
Enough of me blabbering, let’s get to what really matters….

New Japan News:

PhotobucketTohgi Makabe was able to survive Masato Tanaka and is now moving to face the “2010 G1 Climax Winner” Satoshi Kojima. This match will be building in the press within the next week up to the event, but Kojima is going in looking as the favorite but Makabe at the same time is proving that he is a dominate champion. This match is sort of hard to call at this moment in time, but it should be an excellent, in my opinion, nonetheless.
Below I will post the youtube that has just been released a few hours ago with the Press Conference between these two men. I would say if you do not know Japansese to sort of skip through to about 7-8 mins just to see the tension aspect that is building between the two.

Jushin Thunder Liger will be returning on Oct. 11th after a very successful few months traveling for CMLL in Mexico. He is looking to come back into the New Japan ring and reclaim his spot as the top in the company.
We have two singles matches that are looking to be aiming as making the next #1 contender in the company. Tetsuya Naitoh has showed tons of promise as of late, and he is being given the opportunity to solidify his name, whether he wins or loses, against Hiroshi Tanahashi. Like I mentioned in the last article both of the men have a strong basis and style of that of Keiji Mutoh and this match could be a shining moment for Naitoh to show how much he knows and can be seen as a strong singles star.
Shinsuke Nakamura and Hirooki Gotoh is the other match that is looking to set up a #1 contenders match before WK V. The way that I am seeing it is whoever wins this match will go on to face the winner of Naitoh/Tanahashi. Then we might have an official first match at WK V if that is the way that they are planning on booking it?

New Japan’s Mitsuhide Hirasawa, now known as a Hideo Saito, has not been in Puerto Rico for no more than a few days and he has already earned himself his first wrestling championship. He debuted for the World Wrestling Council this weekend and won the WWC Caribbean Heavyweight Championship in a Battle Royal for the reinstated belt.

Here is the official line-up for the October 11th “Destruction ’10” PPV at the Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan.

All Japan News:

Coming off the heels of yesterdays event in Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. All Japan is setting up for the big event on October 24!
First up let’s talk about the shocker of all shockers…

Photobucket
This picture describes exactly how I felt when they announced this match (lef to right) "wtf" - ":O" - "huh?" - "anger" - "shocked" - "laughing so hard that I am crying"

PhotobucketKaz Hayashi beat Tsuyoshi Kikuchi… no that was not really a shocker, lol. The shocker came right after the match when Keiji Mutoh came out and said that he will be Hayashi’s next challenger for the World Junior Heavyweight Title.
This instantly creates a lot of questioning as Mutoh has been a Heavyweight class wrestler for all of his career. Hayashi even questioned this by saying that Mutoh is not a Junior.
Mutoh was asked how he was going to lose weight and he said with PowerPro. No but he even said if he was not able to get down to 100 kg that he would refund everyone’s tickets, so he seems to be straight up serious about taking on Hayashi. One thing that made me laugh in Mutoh’s interview is that he said, jokingly, that if he losses enough weight that he “will be able to do two turn moonsaults”. ~ That I would want to see myself, lol.

PhotobucketMasakatsu Funaki has been on a war path as of late, especially with his deadly left high kick. Which Suwama has just gotten a taste of first hand at yesterdays show. Suwama was straight up knocked out cold by the kick and in the wake Funaki is now the official next challenger for the Triple Crown belts. Suwama thought he had it rough with Suzuki, who he beat for the belts, but now he has Funaki aiming to take the belts off of his waist before he even begins to prove that he is the #1 in All Japan. Funaki is already looking as the favorite going into the show next month, especially since he has been building to this moment since coming to the promotion a while back. Suwama has fought through some tough fights before, but will Funaki prove to be one step above him in natural ability?

Well yesterday it was announced that the AJP World Tag Team Titles which are currently held by Taiyo Kea & Akebono will be on the line as well as they will have to defend against Big Daddy Voodoo (Viscera) and Charlie Haas! Yes you are reading that correctly Haas will be heading to Japan and he instantly gets a title shot. This is not his first time he has been in Japan because if I am not mistaken he has wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling back in 2005. Haas been been placed as an official member for the Voodoo Murders, and at this time they have him listed for the whole month of October.

NOAH News
:

Coming of this past Sunday’s big event from NOAH. You can for yourself the full results from the event here.
But just to say Sugiura is still the Global Honored Crown Heavyweight Champion! After an almost grueling 30 minute match against Go Shiozaki. His victory sort of comes as a bit of a surprise, but NOAH has been building up Sugiura for years and he is now showing that it has all paid off. So Sugiura as the dominant champion is not a bad thing when he keeps having great match after great match.
On Monday it was announced that Sugiura would not be waiting to long to have to put the title on the as he is going to be heading to Mexico to compete in AAA on October 1st, against Chessman.
Sugiura has stated that “he is ready to defend the title no matter who the challenger may be, but he hopes to do NOAH proud and enjoy his first ever trip to Mexico.”

NOAH has crowned new GHC Tag Team Champions in the form of Yoshiro Takayama and Takuma Sano. They defeated Bison Smith and Akitoshi Saito on Sept. 18th, and they even went on to have their first successful defense against Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima on Sept. 26th!Photobucket

NOAH has officially announced all the competitors in the 4th year of the NTV Cup Jr. Heavyweight League.

This year marks the fourth installment of NOAH’s Junior Tag League and this year is looking to be good already with many a few outside promotions sending in their top talent to comepete this year. This years tournament will be running from October 15th to the 30th, with 10 teams will be split into 2 block with 5 teams on each side.

So without further ado let’s look at the talent that will be competing in this years League!

(1) KENTA & Atushi Aoki
PhotobucketKENTA won the first two years of the NTV Cup (07/08) and coming off a battle with Kanemaru he looks to quickly re-build himself back up as a key contender in the promotion. Can Aoki and himself mix well enough together to get the big win, that is yet to be seen, but I expect these two pushes themselves pretty hard.
(2) Ricky Marvin and Taiji Ishimori
Photobucket
These two have shown themselves to be a very strong team and are definitely looking to have a rematch for the GHC Jr Belts, so just like KENTA and Aoki I suspect a good showing from them.
(3) (ROH) Roderick Strong & Eddie Edwards
PhotobucketThe current singles champions in Ring of Honor, Strong is coming off the biggest win of his career when he beat Tyler Black for the ROH World Championship at Glory by Honor IX a few weeks back. Then we got Edwards who is no stranger to pro wrestling NOAH and this marks his 3rd year in the tournament. Will these two be able to work together as a cohesive and strong unit, or will they seem to fall apart at the seams due to their animosity in ROH?
(4) (AAA) Jack Evans & Extreme Tiger
PhotobucketThe high fliers from Mexico, Jack Evans is known for his crazy acrobatics and big spots, and Extreme Tiger is not afraid of shedding his own blood in the least and is looking for his first trip in Japan to be a noteworthy one. Will these guys steal the show with their acrobatics, or will it lead them to their defeat by taking one too many risks?
(5) (Osaka Pro-Wres) Daisuke Harada and Atsushi Kotoge
Photobucket
Osaka Pro is sending in Kotoge and Harada as their representatives and this is undoubtedly a big opportunity for the two young men. Both men have much potential so I am sort of looking at them to be the dark horses in the tournament, because they will definitely be fighting as hard as as they possibly can not only for themselves but for all of Osaka as well.
(6) (Michinoku Pro Wrestling) The Great Sasuke and Kenbai
Photobucket
The Legend that is The Great Sasuke is an excellent addition to this years tournament, he will be coming in as the most experienced talent in the tournament. Kenbai has been a pro wrestler for 5 years in Ocotber and is still looking for his piece of success. Will this duo from Michi-Pro seemingly blend their youth and experience together as a formidable force?
(7) Yoshinobu Kanamaru and Genba Hirayanagi
Photobucket
Kanemaru won the tournament last year with Kotaro Suzuki and with Hirayanagi starting to show his strength as a Junior wrestler it will be interesting to see how far they make it. Kanemaru has been on a roll as of late as the current GHC Jr. Champion so no matter what he will be going in with a target on his head, but if he can translate his success over to the tag division we may have ourselves a top contender to take it all in on October 30th.
(8) Yoshinari Ogawa and Kotaro Suzuki
Photobucket
Ogawa is the crafty veteran in NOAH and Suzuki has recently returned from injury and is still looking to regain his foothold as a top competitor. Will this union be what the two needs to become the top of the Junior division?
(9) (Kensuke Office) Katsuhiko Nakajima and Satoshi Kajiwara
PhotobucketNakajima is considered by many as the future ace in the making and he will be teaming with his fellow KO team member Kajiwara. Both of these guys look to make Sasaki proud and being able to get the win in this League would do just that.
(10) (DDT) Dick Togo and Yasu Urano
Photobucket
Dick Togo has traveled the world and now being 41 years old he is aiming to show that he has no intention of slowing down anytime soon. Urano has primarily been an Indy wrestler in Japan for the 10 years he has been wrestling, so this is definitely going to give him some exposure if anything. Both of these guys you call the brawlers from all the other talent, so I expect to see a descent mix between the two.

Kind of interesting not seeing the current GHC Tag Team Champions, Kohji Kanemoto & Tiger Mask, in the tournament, but New Japan has their own Jr. Tag Tournament coming up here very soon. So I expect this tournament to be aiming at building up the next viable champions to try and bring the belts back home.

Zero1 News:

Ikuto Hidaka picked up his second straight win in Tenka Ichi tournament, and with all 7 Dragon Balls he wished that he could face Takafumi Ito, an accomplished fighter for PANCRASEism. Hidaka and Ito have a history with Ito defeating Hidaka in a MMA sanctioned fight. This time around Hidaka wants Ito in the wrestling ring to see how well he favors in against himself now. Well that is all that is shaping up from the top promotions at this time. Sorry if there is not much news for this week, nor was their much last week which is why I skipped over doing anything last week.

Though something I aiming at accomplishing on the site is finishing up a lot the details of the promotions in Japan from the History of the promotions to the individual bios for the wrestlers.

Another project that I am aiming to get done is reviewing shows for the month of July. I have reviews for 2 NOAH shows, Dragon Gates biggest event of the year, and just recently I have finished up a small review for Kensuke Office, which you can find by click here. As well as the rest of the July reviews as well.

So that will rap up the second edition of “The Dojo”. I have the news round-up helps keep everyone in tune with what is going on over in Japan, and if you wish to know more about certain promotions or wrestler’s in general?
