Welcome back wrestling fans. After yesterdays hiccup I finally found my DVD and we are going to enjoy some TNA/Impact Wrestling X Division Champion vs FCW stand out Dean Ambrose.. I mean Jon Moxley. Both of these men have really captured my attention and it really is a shame that we were never able to get Moxley on a PWP podcast like we have so many other top indy talents. But that is the way the cookie crumbles I guess… or whatever that damned cookie monster is snorting now. Anyway should be a fun time and always feel free to send me comments on twitter with the hasg tag #30Days30Events .

Shiima Xion aka Zema Ion in Impact Wrestling vs Jimmy Jacobs

I actually remember most of this match when this event occured and I bought it on iPPV plus the debut of friend to the site Rob Naylor to EVOLVE commentary. A man I do hope to meet in person one day who has been so helpful and awesome to us here at PWP and we truly thank him for his friendship.

Enough of that as I’m sure he’s having some sunny days in FL now.. no not hanging out with Tammy Sytch.. just warmer weather than I’m having here in Northern California. I truly believe this match is one of the most underrated matches ever. Both men know how to have fun with the crowd and truth be told this could really main event any other INDY promotion and have the crowd leave happy. The future Zema scores a great win over Jacobs and I have to say a great way to open the show.

Tony Nese 0-1 vs Silas Young 1-1

A fun match that features 2 guys who I am definitely looking to have some great careers. Silas Young for sure I am high on and happy to say that he defended his AAW title the other night against 5 other men in a match that has some clamoring could be a MoTY candidate. Nese is still in TNA and so I see very little of him since I don’t particularly go out of my way to catch Impact but even in the reports I don’t see his name a lot so I do hope he’s making a living with some of the rumored pay outs that TNA seems to make to younger talent. A good semi-quick win for Young here as he continues to work in EVOLVE and of course Larry Dallas has to make himself even more of a prick.

Jon Davis 0-0 vs Johnny Gargano

This for me is an awesome match up as I’m a huge fan of both men. Jon Davis is just a power house who I think is an asset to any promotion. The same could be said for Gargano less the power house description. Such an awesome match even within the first 5 minutes. These two guys aren’t holding anything back and that is how I like my wrestling. The ‘Bees Knee’s’ just showing his speed against Jon Davis but the man from Dark City isn’t going to let that hold him back as he shows just as much quickness and tons of power.

I will never understand why ROH did not see more out of the Dark City Fight Club but no matter what the reason the fans of EVOLVE & DGUSA are definitely pleased that talents like Jon Davis and Kory Chavis are able to showcase their skills in both promotions and other promotions around the world including the NWA. If Ezekiel Jackson wants to learn what his character should be Jon Davis is the man to watch as he has a great power style that always surprises me with the moves he brings a new twist to. I’ve always said that Gargano reminds me of Alex Shelley in that he just strings moves together so smoothly & innovates while doing so that Gargano is sure to have a great career so seeing these two guys face off is just awesome. With Gargano now being the DGUSA Open the Freedom Gate champion and Jon Davis working his way up the ladder I am sure they can bring this awesome action to DGUSA as well. A fun ending sequence that while may have not been executed as well as they wanted it for sure with some polish looked great and damn I hope to see them face off again soon. Great submission from Johnny Gargano and definitely not an easy win.

Larry Dallas showing more sleazy manager tact and the issue between the Ronin brothers is coming to a head in EVOLVE. I’m sure the fans live were salivating at the chance to see them face off. Mrs. Matt Hardy.. no one cares what you have to say..at least I don’t.. seriously. In all fairness I’m sure she doesn’t care what I have to say either so at least the feelings are mutual.

Facade & Jason Gory 0-0 vs (CHIKARA Sekigun) Jigsaw & Frightmare 2-0

While I don’t have a lot of knowledge on Jason Gory I am def excited to see Facade coming to EVOLVE. With Jigsaw & Frightmare this should be one of the fastest paced matches ever, at least some of the craziest dives should be occuring. Cheap plug #2 be sure to check out Mid West Wrestling by clicking the ad below for their debut show which Facade will be a participant along with Johnny Gargano & more. It’s their debut show in Niles, OH only $12 per ticket so be sure you don’t miss it.

Such fun tag team wrestling here from Jigsaw & Frightmare as is to be expected but Gory & Facade are putting in a good showing as well and their look is distinctive so I’m hoping that fans will give them a chance. Facade in particular is a talent who is getting his name out there and working hard to do so. I can agree with Jimmy Jacobs sentiment on commentary that win or lose the team of Facade & Gory is impressing a lot of fans and hopefully the management in the back. After an amazing tag team sequence from Gory & Facade on Frightmare it would be Jigsaw who came in from behind to score the win after a superkick/jig-n-tonic combo.

Zack Sabre Jr. 0-0 vs Sami Callihan 2-1

Should be a fun match up. A hard hitting tumbleweed vs the high flyer from across the pond. It starts off fast and furious and neither of these men even know the phrase ‘slow down’. Just the beating that Callihan puts on in the corner would make my knees shake but Zack Sabre is more than up for the challenge. I have to say that I had only seen Zack in maybe 2 matches before this but have definitely been following his career since then and this kid along with PAC are 2 of many awesome talents from the UK that are making waves. Such an awesome blend of submission and wrestling basics that just shouts the Hammerlock Dojo from Sabre that I do hope we see more of him in Japan and in EVOLVE. Some innovative stretch muffler/arm breaker reversals but in the end it would be a stretch muffler/kicks to the head combo that got Callihan the win via knockout.

AR Fox 1-0 vs Rich Swann 0-0

This is a high flyers dream and I expect to see these two defy gravity. While I’m writing this I have to admit being a bit sluggish after the daily grind-a-thon but after some excellent dinner with one of my best buds & his daughter with my girlfriend at an excellent bar (Bislas if you’re in the Sacramento area) I was pumped to watch this DVD and really this match I remember being one of the main reasons I bought the iPPV way back when. A fun match and I expect big things from both these men on the indy scene. Swann seems to be doing well in Japan and we do hope to get him in for an interview when he comes back to the states. AR Fox gets a great win here.

Akira Tozawa 0-0 vs Chuck Taylor 4-2

Such an exciting match that obviously sold me the first time I heard it was going to happen. Both men have explosive move sets and I was wondering what the chain wrestling would look like for sure. Could the southern gentleman really take the hard hitting man from the far east? Could the crazy man really deal with the grenade attack? I guess we’ll find out here.

Both men are going at it at full steam, especially since Chuck Taylor wants to win this match and become tied for wins leader which of course could lead to another match between Taylor & Gargano despite them both being partners with Larry Dallas in The A List. After both men prove they are almost mirror images and have scouted eachother very well an out of nowhere awful waffle scores Chucky T the win.

Impromptu match: Chuck Taylor vs Johnny Gargano

Taylor who is already ready to be in battle tries for the quick win but damn if both these men already have their A game going. This is going to be quick and painless as both men have already competed tonight but they want to fight for that top spot in EVOLVE and they want it right now. Gargano had Taylor in a tough spot and Dallas had Reby Sky throw in the towel to literally give the win to Johnny Gargano. Not the way I or the fans wanted to see this end but also Dallas is trying to blame this on Reby Sky the bastard. Well it’s obvious Taylor isn’t going to fall for the BS from Dallas and we’ll just have to see where this goes in EVOLVE 8.

Austin Aries 1-0 vs Jon Moxley 1-1

The match that I and I’m sure many waited to see is about to start and I really am glad that I’m semi reliving this as I saw part of this match when I first got the DVD but I haven’t watched it since so glad to finally sit down and get to focus on it. Aries being the mat technician and Moxley more the Roddy Piper style wrestler whose facials & antics truly make him a can’t miss prospect. Both men are no longer on the indy scene but I’m hoping we get to see them both go all out one last time before it’s all said and done. But this match is everything so far that we expect from both men. The explosive bursts of action and both men trying to get one up on each other as they both show their abilities to put on a submission at any moment early on in the contest is what wrestling is all about.

Just watching Moxley internally struggle with himself as to whether he would want to use the wrench even though it would have been an automatic loss, his crazy nature was just coming through. He chooses not to in the end but that wrench is always there and so it could still play a factor in this match ultimately but for now the better part of valor is shown. These two are fighting tooth and nail for this win and this main event is living up to the hype for sure. That is one thing that always has to be crystal clear that the main event makes the fans happy or that it leads to the fans wanting to see more. EVOLVE has done a great job of that almost every time out and truly is to be respected. Other promotions often have main events that either don’t live up or that don’t create the correct type of buzz but EVOLVE has yet to do that IMO and I do hope they can continue that even with the new merger with DGUSA. Hope you all are signed up for the WWNLive.com e-magazine where we got a great look at what is in store for us with the merger straight from Gabe himself. Of course after I write that Aries gets a rolling victory pinfall on Moxley and this is the end.

Thanks for joining me and check out the vid above as Moxley was on his way out to FCW. Leave comments or send me comments on Twitter @CGSTONG and if you can add the hash tag #30Days30Events that would be awesome.

  1. Other than that three way match that was a qualifier for that Destination X PPV, I’ve never seen Tony Nese’s name in connection with TNA again, even though they signed him. Weird.
